The adoption of cryptocurrency has long been a dream of many crypto assets, aiming to be accepted by the rest of the world for payments and other use cases. Now, the founder of XRPL Labs, Weitse Wind, wants to take a different approach to the adoption of the XRP token by adding it to WooCommerce. With this implementation the token would be usable by about 3.3 million online stores.
To bring this token to the retailer, the company hosted a crowdfunding campaign, which was phenomenally successful as an independent coder was able to integrate the XRP to WooCommerce in 10 days. The coder was rewarded with 4,635 XRP (about $1,469).
Now, the founder is working on gathering the support of the crypto community to help with the creation and ranking of Ripple’s XRP-centered projects, helping to make it more of a mainstream payment option worldwide.

The top proposals at the end of this comment thread will end up brought to Ripple and the XRP community, which will be essential in making them a reality through financial support. Right now, the efforts are clearly in the preliminary stages, but the top initiatives presently include:
- Offering XRP micropayments for software licenses
- Using Stack Overflow to add the option of using XRP for tipping
- Adding XRP to Shopify for e-commerce application
XRPL Labs is already working on its own decentralized exchange, along with a mobile wallet and cold storage operating system. Ripple only announced last month that their investment arm, Xpring, is supporting the new XRPL Labs startup using XRP, but the total amount was not announced. With this funding, developers will be able to create some independent projects, which should cover the work over the next two to three years.
